About Us

The Recycles Community Band is a Conducted Concert Band of modern Brass, Woodwind, Percussion, and some Electric instruments. No-audition requirement. Rehearsals are informal and Open to the Public. We offer a stimulating, Friendly, and Forgiving Atmosphere for making music. The Recycles Community Band is a Registered Florida 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization.

The Registered 501c(3) non-profit Recycles Community Band (formerly Recycles Orchestra) was founded in 1979 by Shirley Hildebrandt, a manager at Lake Shore Senior Adult Neighborhood Center. The idea of a recreational seniors’ orchestra was originally supported by the Florida Junior College. In time, The Recycles had to rely on public donations for its continued support. Today as then, Recycles concerts are always free and donations are graciously accepted. All Donations are tax deductible. Then and now, many Recycles members played instruments in their younger days, but stopped playing to pursue family, and careers in other fields.
